When I was a teenager, I searched for love with high expectations of what it was supposed to be like. However, as I got older, I learned that there were different types of love and every person you encounter is not going to be the same.
My first love broke my heart into a million pieces and I thought that I would never love again but I was wrong. Through that pain and hurt, I learned more about who I am and what I want from my future relationships.
When I was in college, I met a man who wouldn’t give up on me for anything. He was extremely persistent in his effort to love and support me. He loved me the way no one else ever had before. He always forgave me, communicated, and was patient with me. He taught me how to self sufficiently love, heal, and grow. So, I embarked on a journey to self love. When he thought I didn’t need him anymore, he vanished.
It just goes to show that people enter our lives with a purpose whether it’s unknown to us or not. I’m happy to have loved than not at all because my exes have each taught me something that I could take into the next stage of love and life.
