I used the red and yellow elements to represent a visual reference to the Medieval Era color blocks used in heraldy scrolls and shields. the N and J letters were not only distinct but worked well on a larger scale to represent the creator of this 1468 typeface. Also, when I researched my own heraldy these same colors were used in my family crest along with a red fleur-de-lis; so I used those elements to represent my personal relationship to the graphic as its’ designer.
