The Toothpaste Guide

Toothpaste is a key part of your daily oral hygiene routine. Along with your toothbrush and floss, it helps to remove food debris and plaque from your teeth and gums.

No matter the brand, always select a toothpaste with the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval. The ADA seal helps you recognize dental products with the golden standard. It also means that the toothpaste has met the ADA criteria for safety and effectiveness, and that it has earned the seal. The manufacturer must provide data from clinical studies in humans, as well as, laboratory studies and results. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) even insists that manufacturers meet certain requirements for the product active ingredients, product indications, claims and other qualifications. The FDA does not test toothpaste to verify compliance.
