This holiday season, I’d like to focus on the facts of Christmas that many don’t know and don’t bother to take the time to look up. For example, why do we celebrate Christmas? How was it actually established? What is the significance of the symbols we associate with Christmas like Christmas trees, the star at the top of that tree and other ornaments, or even Christmas tree lights?
Alice in Wonderland was originally written and published by Lewis Carroll in 1865. The novel tells a tale of a young girl named, Alice who is bored with ordinary things in life like books with no pictures or conversations when she sees a White Rabbit dressed in a waistcoat holding a pocket watch, screaming, “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late”. Alice’s curiosity is peeked as she wonders to herself, ‘What could a rabbit possibly be late for?’. The girl follows him down a rabbit hole to a mysterious and strange place called Wonderland. This story has been adapted with various twists and spins on the original, over the last 150 years. One of my favorite remakes of the classic was done by film director, Tim Burton in 2010. Watch the film trailer below:
Some of you may or may not know what an interactive game is so I’ll go ahead and explain it. Basically, an interactive game is any single or multiplayer game that let’s you make choices and decisions for the characters throughout the story line. This is the kind of game you can play over and over again by making different decisions to get various endings. The concept of interactive gaming is fairly new and has become more popular with games like Choices, Episodes, and my favorite Mystic Messenger that can downloaded to your cellphone via the Google Play Store or iTunes App Store. In this blog post, I will be going over a few details about Mystic Messenger.
In 2015, I spent my summer abroad in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I was working as a Marketing Consultant for Portea Medical, one of the largest growing home medical care companies in Southeast Asia. I also took the opportunity to travel to Indonesia, Thailand, and Cambodia with my older brother.
The first ever MMO game that I would officially say that I’ve played and had experience with is Flyff. Now I’ve tried several different games like League of Legends (LOL) and World of Warcraft (WOW) but something about Flyff is so simplistic and enjoyable to me that I played it during every school vacation break I got.
*In case you don’t know what an MMO game is, the acronym stands for Massively Multiplayer Online which tend to be considered role playing games in a fantastic world of imaginative creatures and personas.
My hometown is West Hempstead, NY located in Long Island. I consider it to be one of the bittersweet memories of my life considering I lived there until I was 14 years old and then my life changed. Let me tell you why.
I did an interactive story review for Zachary Pounds, The Average Life.
The story has a multitude of endings that could occur. In every section or transition of the story, I had an option to make. The story was extremely interactive and moved quickly, which made it easy to use. As a work of interactive fiction, this game offers just enough chances to interact with it.
My favorite thing about this style of writing is that the protagonist is me. Continue reading “Interactive Story Review”
Here is my first and only interactive fantasy story, The Prophecy. The information I’ve provided in this blog is any background information you might want to read before playing to create your story.
Protagonist: No Name (it’s you). Magical being framed for crime at the age of 17, charged as an adult and sent to prison. This character is released after a 15 year sentence and has no idea how to function in the new society.
Story line: You don’t have a place to stay or relatives who you can live with. You are all alone in a place that is separated by city business owners and rural tribes. You take this all as an opportunity to start over and make the best of a clean slate.
It is a rainy Thursday evening. You’re sitting at the window watching the raindrops run down the glass. You see children getting off at the bus stop down the streets wearing their different color raincoats. A group of 3 run in the direction of your house. One wearing yellow, one wearing pink, and one wearing blue. They all have on matching rain boots, jumping in the puddles on the sidewalks and laughing as the water splashes everywhere. You hear a faint call from downstairs, Continue reading “Random Adventures”
New media is any content created with consideration to be received by an Internet audience which consist of social media, YouTube, news, movie streaming, blogs, company websites, and way more.
In my opinion new media is new because it isn’t the same as traditional media where people have to be somewhere in person to receive the information. For example, newspapers are the most traditional form of media. Radio stations are more innovative because you can have them in your car and get satellite radio but they’re also not as popular as they used to be.
